I’m looking to line up a ride to springer from either Atlanta or Gainesville sometime between january 3rd and 10th 2009 . Anybody willing and able during this time ? Or is there any public transportation to the trailhead ?

Josh and Leigh Saint run one of the best hostels along the AT. They give rides from the places you mentioned, have bunks for the night and drop you off at Springer to start your hike. You can get their information at www.hikerhostel.com

I live near Springer and provide shuttles, rides, etc for reasonable fares. What do you feel is a reasonable? Atlanta would likely be faster/easier to reach from Ellijay than going over to Gainsville, but either is ok for me. Call me at 404-408-2524 cell/706-276-2520 home or email.
