my husband and a friend will be doing the souther section of the AT from springer to roan mt in september. they want to take the road in (FR42) from the west side. They are coming in from Tenn. and was wondering how the road was coming in that direction. also what type of weather should they expect

_rambler_ FR 42 has no issues from either direction. Taxis and such drive it shuttling hikers from Gainesville.
_Phreak_ The road is fine. It's graveled road and it's a bit rutted, but there's no real issues. Because it twists and turns so much, it will seem like you must have missed the turn-off to the parking area...but never fear, you haven't!
I’ve driven it maybe 3-4 times in the last year, and EVERY TIME I think I’ve gone to far…but it always turns out I didn’t.
