He believes you may be about a week behind him. He is going to try to get a permit to stay in GC at Cottonwood, coming out on the North Rim on Monday. You may also be able to speak with him at the Backcounty Permits Office at GCNP on Friday, May 1 or Saturday, May 2. The telephone number there is 928-638-7875. He is planning on being at the northern terminus on Friday, May 8th.
