Rosemont comment period

#1

The comment period for the proposed Rosemont copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains is now open, and the Center for Biological Diversity is joining Save the Scenic Santa Ritas to give you the information you need to effectively voice your opposition to this destructive mine. Come out to a commenting workshop and learn how you can defend the Chiricahua leopard frog from 1.9 billion tons of rock waste.

Coronado National Forest Supervisor Jim Upchurch, who’s managing the “environmental impact statement” process, has said that he will not approve the mine if it’s projected to violate federal standards for air quality. But if it is projected to meet those federal standards, he’s prepared to give Rosemont Copper the green light. The company’s permit was denied in 2010; with your active support we can send the message that no alternative is clean enough for the Santa Ritas.

If you can’t attend this public comment workshop or any of the public hearings below, you can still give brief oral comments by calling (888) 654-6646 toll free or emailing CoronadoNF(at)RosemontEIS.us
