Running Shorts with liners

Looking for advice from other long distance hikers. I’m thinking of just going with some running shorts with built in liners. It seems like other people do this. But, um, what about skid marks? Are lined shorts just a bad idea for such a long trip?

I hike in super airy, lightweight running shorts. They are so comfy it’s like not wearing anything at all! I just cut out the annoying liners. In my opinion, all they do is obstruct crucial air flow. :girl

My zip off nylon pants were perfect! I used just the shorts and I have large pockets and plenty of “air movement” because “comando stlye” is the only way! And the pants also had adjustable nylon belt and they were long enough to keep the mosqui-a-ticks off my arse

i used columbia swimming trunks…basically you will never have skid marks cause you don’t eat enough to cause the damage…when you do go, the high fiber diet keeps ya so loose and electric that yer golden in 2 shakes. yer more likely gonna have sweat lines from daily use and a quick warsh in the next stream keeps any overcast marks at bay.

Hi

I always wear running shorts, and a cut out the liner. They are lightweight and if they get them wet dry real fast. They are airy and cool, buy dark colors, because they look cleaner when your not doing laundry for a week or two.
Enjoy your hiking.

Seriously, the only way I have ever successfully stopped and prevented the dreaded monkey butt babboon ass is spandex shorts with a really light pair of shorts over those. The spandex prevents rubbing and does good job keeping you dry. The light weight pair of shorts over top provides pockets, some protection (spandex does provide much scrape protection, ouch), and, of course, it’s nice not to walk in public with nothing but spandex on.
