This is along shot, but my husband and I are looking for a ride from near the Circle R Motel in Salida to Monarch Pass early Saturday, Aug. 15. We would love to set up a shuttle ahead of time and are willing to pay. The Chaffee Shuttle does not run on weekends. Any other ideas?

In case you haven’t found them yet, the High Valley Center shuttles bikes big time to Monarch, and they will drop you off where the CT crosses Hwy 50 at Fooses Creek, too. Daily runs at 8:00 and 10:00. $20.00/person. Www.monarchcrest.com

If you are going to be near the Circle R, why don’t you just ask the owners to shuttle you? When I stayed at the Circle R last year, the owner, Lee’s wife shuttled me back to the trail for $20. In 2011, I stayed at the Simple Hostel and John shuttled me back to the trail for $10.
Just ask, and you might find people willing to help…
