San Diego portion of PCT

I’m starting my training for the AT thru-hike. Since I live in San Diego, I would like to take advantage of using the PCT start. Any tips on getting back to San Diego after reaching HWY 74?

And do I need any permits or specific things I should know about besides a California campfire permit?

Affirm, As part of your AT training don’t forget to put on all of your gear and stand in your shower for a couple of hours with the water on. It helps to simulate what is called “rain.” “Rain” is a clear liquid that falls from the sky. Kind of rare here in Calif but quite common on the AT.

Affirmative on the shower. I’ll be sure to walk into a supermarket shortly afterwards and sneak into the frozen meat storage for good measure. Born and raised in Jersey!
