Does anyone know anything about the Sarver Shelter, about 44 miles north Pearisburg? It is listed in the 2002 databook, but not on the Map. It is mentioned as a Cabin in one book… an old Companion mentions that there are plans to build a shelter there… did it get converted to a shelter? Is it worth checking out. Thanx

It is my understanding that the Savin Shelter is NEW. That the homestead/cabin that others used was in very poor shape and that a new offical shelter has been built.

Yeah, the folks at the B$B in Catawba were helping as volunteers to get the shelter built when I came thru, they were making plans to start the following week or what-not, have the supplies choppered in. By now, the shelter should be long since done. In place of the haunted homestead.

it is there. i stayed there and it was almost done last year ('01) it should definately be finished by then. decent water source, long climb down to it, and i mean STEEP, they also say that the old homestead is haunted. my pals and i heard footsteps that night. ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. it was fun though
