Seam sealing - Appalachian Trail

I’m looking at a tent that says that is has self sealing seams,would someone tell me if they really work,or should I seal the seams anyway…thanks.

In the military we had aircraft with self sealing fuel tanks, but tents?

Does it actually say “self sealing seams”? I haven’t heard that before and think maybe they are trying to say that the seams are sealed.

If the seams are indeed sealed (give them a call and find out) you probably do not have to seal them - but it wouldn’t be a bad idea. Before you use the tent on a hike, put it out in the rain or shoot some water over it. That should give you an indication.
