Molas Pass to Durango is closed to camping, except in developed camp sites with a host. any thoughts on hiking this seciton? What happens if one goes anyway?

The rule says:

" Overnight camping outside designated Wilderness is allowed only in developed campgrounds staffed by an on-duty host. Backcountry dispersed camping will continued to be allowed only in the Weminuche, Lizard Head, and South San Juan Wilderness Areas."

Me and a friend finished the CT 7/13-- hiking the closed sections from Molas Pass… Honestly, we were unsure about the trail’s status, but we were also not going out of our way to find out. The one sign i remember passing that said something about restricted camping was well in segment 28 and we were just a day from finishing at that point. Met a dayhiker in segment 25 or 26 that said by and by did you know the trail is closed to camping… “Of course not!” He said perhaps we had a grandfather clause for starting our hike before the closure but of course that is BS. Saw a ranger right afterwards and she was nice and only gave us a lecture about packing TP out… So, although I hear there’s a hefty price to pay if busted camping where you’re not supposed to, I seriously can’t put my finger on where the rangers hold LNT conscious tru-hikers… I say if you take the risk keep smiling and being on top behavior with everyone you meet. Keep ears and eyes open and you may land yourself in D-town still!
