Hi, I am planning a section hike in Maine from NH line to Caratunk. Does anyone know of any transportation/ shuttles in the area? Arrival date approx. 17Th or 18tH of July.

Could you provide more details? Are you hiking north or south? What town/city do you need transportation from/to? Will you start/finish in Gorham NH (the closest town to the state line)? Or use the nearest side trail to the stateline, The Carlo Col trail.

Start off route 2 just below Gorham.
Head Northbound.
I have two weeks to make to Caratunk.
Plan on two food stops mail drops at 17 and 27.
I should know by second food drop which day I should reach Caratunk.

If you need public transportation to Gorham Concord Trailways Busslines will get you there.

You could fly to Manchester airport (MHT) and catch a bus to Gorham. The Barn Hostel at Rte 2 & 16 is a thru hiker haven and only a few miles from the trail.

If your looking for locals who do shuttles (in Caratunk too) or other planning info check out the online version of the AT Companion at

The ATC has a very extensive list of shuttlers for the whole Trail. You can find it at www.atconf.org

There are all sorts of folks who shuttle from Gorham and into Maine or elsewhere. In Caratunk, you might want to contact Steve Longley (www.riversandtrails.com or 207-663-4441) who might be in a position to help you once you get there.
