Section hiking near Gatlinburn

I am finally fortunate enough to at least section hike the AT in the Gatlinburg area. I am hoping somebody could assist me in finding any good “section hikes” around that area and any useful maps, etc. online.

Thanks!

The AT around Gatlinburg is great. Ive hiked the trail through the park. Hiking from Fontana Dam to Newforund Gap is a tough, yet rewarding hike. Starting at Newfound Gap to Davenport Gap is a bit easier and nice as well. Hop on the trail anywhere in the park and you’ll have a good time. Hike north of the Smokies up to Hot Springs is nice too.

Mount Leconte is my favorite place in the park, wonderful views from the top and all along the blvd trail. The forest servise has a great map of the park that you can get at the sugarlands visitor center. It shows all of the trails including the AT and shelter locations. Cades cove is just off of the AT and is cool to see if you have the time. It was an old homestead for settlers and offers great photo ops.

Mt. leconte is one of my favorite, last time i think we went something like A.T. to sweat heifer trail to blvd. trail to leconte, then alum cave bluff down, it was real nice, i’d def. recommend it
