Hello to all,

I am planning a thru hike, (you would call it a section hike), of Massachusetts AT, 90miles/ 7-10 day hike sometime this May 09. But have not found a generalized list of items recommended. I looked at AMC’s list…is that really it?

I am also planing to do a 25 mile 3 day hike to Mt Isolation in the White Mountains in July 09.

your list and thoughts would be welcome!

Sincerely,
Scott Dowd

The best way we can help you is if you post what you are going to bring that way we can help you with your list. Everyone has a different gear list that is why posting ours will not help that much, but if you post yours I am sure people with help you out. put the weight of each item when you post what you are going to bring.

…for a mountain. Last August spent three days around Isolation, you’ll get wet feet from any direction I think, the Rocky Branch has a bit of wetland before the elevation rise. Be ready for ANY kind of weather, although the Southern Prezis help keep this area relatively sheltered. Afew established campsites along the stream are about it for camping, unless you enjoy summit space for your overnights. A list? There must be a list in Trail Journals somewhere.

If you go up the Glen boulder trail you will stay dryer than rocky branch

Not a lot to see around there. Did it as a day hike with 7 YO son and wife. Why don’t you do a Presidential traverse? That would be a better 3-day hike.
