I want to take some folks on early April on either seg 2-3-4. My first coice would be 4, then 3, then 2. Anyone know snow conditions up there presently? Or typically end does the snow met out so that I can get thru on these segments. Prefer you reply directly to me at lindajagger@yahoo.com

Segment 4 goes a bit higher than 10,600’. It could have some serious snow and be difficult in April. 2 and 3 might be ok if you don’t mind a bit of postholing. Take some tall gaiters.

Started segment hiking the Colorado Trail in May 2009. Segments 2-3 were dry then, but Segment 4 was quite “soupy” muddy from all the runoff. Also encountered a small patch of snow near the highpoint. I agree with bearcreek, 2 and 3 should be OK in April, but 4 may pose a challenge.
