Seg 6 - The Colorado Trail

imported
#1

We completed 13 mi on Seg 6, started at N Fork Swan Ri and headed west to Hwy 9/Gold Hill. we started about 9800 with couple inches of snow on ground. High point was 11300aprox. there were places that had 8-12 inches of snow and we tromped through. Probably about 2 miles of that deep snow, off and on. After we got down to 10k or so it much easier going, less snow, 4" or so. by 2pm or so the snow had pretty much stopped and we hit bare ground and snow melting away. It snowed moderately or lightly til then. It was real pretty, all new snow. There was some ice underneath, we slipped a bit occasionally. The trail is very distinct, thanks to the Summit Fat Tire Society maintaining it.
