Segment 7 makes a very good over night hike for locals. Park at the Goldhill trail head in the afternoon and start hiking. My favorite dinner stop is a small flow of water about 300-400 feet below the top of Ten Mile Range, but I also have grabbed a Subway sandwich in Frisco for dinner. The level place on top has views of the lights of Breckenridge and Copper Mountain. On clear nights the air brakes on the trucks descending Vail Pass can get quite loud. In the morning hike down for breakfast at a restaurant in Copper Mountain before taking the free shuttle back to the Goldhill Trail head.

Breckenridge is a quaint town with good restaurants and gear shops. Copper Mountain has limited dining and shopping, but the shuttle bus will take you to the transfer station in Frisco that is located next to a Wal*Mart and other stores that are great for resupply.

The trail at one time went right through Copper Mountain Resort, but has been relocated south onto the ski slopes. I have not hiked it after the reroute.
