I’m trying to find my mother who is currently hiking the AT. I haven’t heard from her for about 2 weeks. She might be traveling with the trail name sheep shank. Has anyone here seen her? she’s about 5.3 with brown and white hair. the last i heard she was somewhere around the nc/ga border

If it is an emergency you might want to contact the Appalachian Trail Conference (www.atconf.org). They have some ridge runner volunteers who will go out and leave notes, interview hikers, and do their best to track her down. These are over extended volunteeres, however, and should only be used for an emergency.

Along the GA/NC norder you may want to contact the Kinkora Hostel (does someone have thier number?) - many hikers stop there.
There is hostel after the Smokies as well. I forget the name.

I thought I would post a little more detailed description of my mother. She’s 51 yrs old, 5’3" with brown and white hair. She had been dying her hair so it probably looks like a broad white stripe going down the center with brown ends. She’s traveling by herself and uses a bright yellow Go-Lite tent. The last I heard from her she was traveling under the trail name Sheepshank but her real name is Nancy Charlier. I heard from her last about week and half to two weeks ago. She was around the NC/GA border then. She picked up some packages at the Blueberry hostel on Route 70 and stayed at a motel in a town nearby. If anybody has seen or heard from her please email me. thanks

Has a list of hostels with phone numbers. Give a couple a call and see if they have heard anything. Also, she’ll probably be in Damascus soon. Especially since Trail Days in coming up there. you might want to contact the outfitter there or Lone Wolf who psts on this forum. He lives there if I’m not mistaken.
