Which shelter has the best spring?

I’m sending this out as a test. Let’s see if this gets posted. Then we can get down to business talking about AT matters.

GREAT. Someone willing to compete with Wingfoot’s forum! The shelter with the best spring however…there are many. It is a fine art of staying at one named for its water source…Icewater Springs in the GSMNP…etc. anyway, this will probably get erased…

Good question. From the sections of the AT that I’ve hiked, I think the best spring would have to be… Wise shelter in the Grayson highlands of Virginia. I stopped there for a nice refreshing drink on a short section hike last december. Brrr. -Sweeper

My bad scruffy, I thought your trail name was shogun. please excuse my past email. Do you think we should try posting this address on trailplace and attract some alum?

I found the water at Morgan Stewart Shelter to be the best water on the trail. It pumped out pure and sweet and delicious. As to springs, the Outbridge shelter had some really good water and I lapped it up.

My three choices for best spring at a shelter is namijoy. lake (LL. Bean)shelter near White House, Maine, a 10 ft. wide spring.Rocky Run shelter in MD with 6" piped spring just roaring out of the mountain.Rausch Gap Shelter in PA which the spring is in a rock structure delivering the water directly into the shelter.

I’d put my four cents in for Belter’s Bump Campsite, CT; Goddard Shelter, VT; Potaywadjo Spring, ME and my favorite the bubbling Pete’s Spring at Sherman Brook Campsite, MA.

I don’t think you can beat Potaywadjo in Maine. Its the best I have seen so far and I have over half done.
