Hey,

Just back from a short trip in the Smokies. As usual, the back of my foot was pretty well chewed up. Not so much blisters as abrasions. Boots and wool socks were soaked. I have to figure a way to prevent or at least minimize the pain and suffering. Any suggestions?

Did you try the two sock method? If you have really thin baby butt skin the only thing that will toughen that up is hiking…but I guess you do that, huh? When you stuff on your boots, if you haven’t been out in a while, do you immediatly feel pressure or something rubbing? And don’t for get some powder. Do you get a blister or does it just rub you raw? Tied too tight? e-mail me a picture of this so called defective dog.

I’m hobbling around like Chester; there’s got to be a fix for this. I thought about a sock/liner combo. The problem isn’t blistering, just abrasion; a half dollar size chunk of skin comes loose (TMI?). The boots feel fine. I usually get a “hot spot” sensation but by then it’s already too late. It has got to be an up-and-down motion at the heel on the tendon. I’m sure the soaked boots and socks aggravated it.

This time the water was no doubt the cause. Do you have boot that tie up high? Two socks will stop it, I believe. 1. Get on line and get some Fox River X-Statics

Power up the footies. When you lace your boots tie the toe loose but without slop in the laces, at the ankle-with your foot at 90%-pull the laces taught and then lean forward on your foot to loosten them slightly, lean back then lace it up only one more eyelet, don’t use the top ones, bow it. this gives you toe room but holds the ankle in place but leaves a tad of room for the ankle to move, I don’t tie the top very tight at all on mine. That should do it. :nerd
