Shuttle or Bus - John Muir Trail

Does anyone know if there is a bus or shuttle that I can catch from Oakhurst to Yosemite? I am staying in Oakhurst the night before and in the morning I need to pick up my permit and bear canister and get to the trailhead. A private company quoted me 125.00 seem kinda of high but I hate to hitchhike.

Yosemite Sightseeing Tours provides regular scheduled tours and motorcoaches for individuals and groups in and around the Oakhurst/Yosemite Area.

Here is there phone number and most tours are $80 per person…that’s cheaper than $125
Yosemite Sightseeing Tours (559) 658-8687

It’s a shot in the dark but worth a try…hope something works out for you.

Based on a quick search of your posts, I assume you are flying in to Fresno from Las Vegas? If so, could you get to Merced instead of Oakhurst? You can get the Yarts bus from Merced to the valley. If you are going to arrive in Yosemite late, call ahead the day before and they will hold your permit.

Does any one know the (relative) distance of Rosemarie Meadow from Yosemite? It is part of the John Muir Trail and the chart that I have does not provide me with that distance. Thank you,

JMT/Bear Creak Trail Junction (8,960/8.1) -> Upper Bear Creak Meadows (9,500/11.4) -> Rosemarie Meadow (8,960/12.3). Camping area is a few yards after crossing stream at the beginning of Rosemarie Meadow.

So I would say about 93.2 miles from the Happy Isles Trailhead
You would get more answers if you place your own Topic on this…just a hint

I also found this…who knows which elevation is truly correct…but at least you know where Rosemarie Meadows is… Below is from Winnetts book on JMT

The JMT fords Bear Creek (difficult in early season); beyond here, the grade increases to a moderate climb to the foot of charming Rosemarie Meadow (10,010 - 1.4), where the trail fords West Fork Bear Creek ¬avoid a use trail westward on the creek’s north bank. In 200 more yards you meet a trail that departs east for Three Island Lake, on the way to which you’ll find Lou Beverly Lake, and in another quarter mile you’ll find a trail that climbs southwest to Rose Lake. Both Rose and Lou Beverly lakes provide good, secluded camping. Nearer the JMT, there are campsites in the slabs just above Rosmarie Meadow.
