Looking to do a week on the Long Trail this summer. Are there any shuttle services anyone can recommend? Plan to start out of Rutland area off VT 140 and hike north to Middleburg Gap area off VT 125

Jackstraw,
There is a bus service in Rutland that runs to the trail and it is not that expensive. There is a hostel in town called the back home again cafe and the bus station is at their back door. The food there at the cafe is great by the way. I hope this info helps.

Enjoy your hike. Peace, WB LT08

There is a nice guy in Rutland who shuttles maybe 50 miles north or south of town. Call him (Trail name: Plans Too Much)at (802) 353-1495. If he can’t do it perhaps he knows of someone.

If money is more important than speed, you can take the bus all the way. To get from trail head to trail head, it would take 3 buses.

To get from Rutland to the LT trail head at Middlebury Gap, you can take “The Connector” from Rutland to East Middlebury - and then change to the Snow Bowl shuttle bus - which runs in the summer as well as during ski season. That takes you right to the trail head.
for info on those buses check out http://www.actr-vt.org/

“The Bus” runs a route from near the trail head to Rutland for 2 dollars - its also not a bad hitch:
