i’m looking for a ride to baxter from the airport in bangor(?). i assume i should fly into bangor and i don’t really know how far it is to katadin. is it gonna cost me a ton to find a shuttle or should i hitchike? i’ll be up there some time next week so anything anyone can tell me would be rad.

from the airport go to the TRAILWAYS bus station which is real close to the airport. ask directions. CYR BUS LINES goes from there to Medway for $10.50. From there to Millinocket is 10 miles. hitch or get a cab for $8.00. from Millinocket to the Baxter gate is about 20 miles. REAL easy hitch. done it MANY times myself. matter of fact all of Maine is easy hitching.

Where would you leave a car “for a time” in the area of Baxter State Park? Are there any hiker-friendly individuals or establishments near Abol Bridge (for example) that would keep an eye on it or charge a modest fee?
