Saw this on CNN today. Think it is funny how the picture describes it as being home to Grizz.

It’s ingenious! You can’t have a forest fire if there’s no forest! There wouldn’t be so much b*tching about health care, either, if all the sick people would just die.

I’m all for keeping politics out of this site, but I also would like there to still be a trail to hike by the time my daughter is old enough to hike it with me. Although I love the treeless high country, the idea of hiking through a hot, barren Mars like landscape at the lower elevations does not really appeal . . . anything we can do to preserve the beautiful trees and mountains that we now enjoy should be of interest to anyone on this site.
Kanga
Tha Wookie and Kanga are correct, the problems we are encountering do effect us. The problem is we throw the “name game” around which doesn’t help anybody (i.e. a huge political scheme, republican democrat or otherwise). “All those arsons in SoCA were started by somebody. Think about that next time you vote”;that quote is just downright ludicrous unless somebody has proof. The naming calling or the “blame game” isn’t fit for the site- that’s all. I know what “here he goes again” is trying to say. I would venture that he or she loves the outdoors too. I hope my future son or daughter can also enjoy what we have been given.
I agree but…
…about what party is in political office. I do not subscribe to anyone’s party or have a vendetta about any. They all have good parts and not-so-good parts. But I obviously feel very passionately about certain issues that effect my and many other’s trail experience. If the democrats were the ones that were erasing our environmental preservation laws, then I would call them out too. I don’t get my opinions from the TV. I get them from the trail, and from my work with the Park Service and Forest Service. I am no political analysist, and don’t claim to be. But I do know about several issues, and who is responsible for making them issues. I read the laws that I comment on directly, and see who signs them. The only “blame game” being played here is an accusal of political dissussion -in America! He or she demanded me to censure myself, without even using their real name or email address. Perhaps the greatest thing about this country, and this website for that matter, is the freedom of expression. Don’t worry, I you’ll never hear me whine about taxes or Michael Jackson on this site. But I will take every opportunity to comment on the defense of the Trail Experience. If you don’t like what I write, then don’t read it.
Tha Wookie
Wookie, say it loud my friend and don’t ever stop. When you walk through a clearcut that was once a pristine forest anger is an obvious reaction. In todays world EVERYTHING can be justified and backed up with a scientific study. Only when you experience it can you really judge what is right and what is wrong
