Sierras in september

I am section hiking Ashland to Kennedy meadows south this summer. Will be ending Sept 25. What is “typical” for snow issues the last few weeks of Sept?

The general rule is to get out of the Sierras by Oct 1. You might get a couple dustings above 8,000 feet before then. Major storms don’t usually start until after Halloween. You’ll be fine.

That is a sweet time to be going through the Seirra. Watch the weather forecasts. Every couple years a September storm hits and result in a few rescues. There are enough bail out points to wait out melting or consolidation if one of those storms do hit.
