Simmerlite? - Appalachian Trail

My plan was to replace my aging whisperlite international (awesome stove no problems my entire hike!!) with a shiny new simmerlite. Anyone hiking with one? Does it simmer or is it still a raging inferno? No 87 octane for 33 cents in a pinch (Hiwasse)? Hope to see all of you from 03 at the Daze. Mairnnnttt!! FERAL

My husband and I have a whisperlite and a simmerlite. Unlike the whisperlite, the simmerlite doesn’t become a “raging inferno” unless you want it to. I have had it out on several trips and have not scorched anything yet…which is a feat for me. It’s lighter than the whisperlite, but it still isn’t light

I have used the whisperlite from the beginging. Even thought about writing a Blow Torch Cookbook. I now have used the Simmerlite for at least two years. I don’t use any alcohol stoves any longer. It is definately worth it’s weight. I use it in the winter also.

I have a Simmerlite and have had a Whisperlite. The Simmerlite works just as well as the WL but is several ounces lighter. It can simmer, though not precisely. I don’t think it’s too heavy at 8 ounces. A few candy bars weigh as much, and you need a white gas stove in winter when I do most of my hiking.
