Very cool, Zammy. Is there a language converter? My Arabic is a little rusty.

or as you say :
cok o didl doo, or is it not?
It looks like that converter doesn’t work, but let me tell you, we’re some happy group, mostly AT and PCT hikers and some wannabes too.
Every year I estimate there are at least 4-6 persons who thru-hike your AT.
There are probably more who just don’t know about our site and walked the trails in the last 10-12 years.
We have a long trail too, the Israel Trail, which runs 550 miles only, there is no room for more then that, small country. It’s not the same, it’s drier, less accomodations, less water sources if any (you need to carry at some sections 1.5 gallons of water) and a good deal of it runs very close to Palestinain territories, you know what it means I’m sure.

Sounds like southern California. Is it safe to hike around alone with all the political unrest that happens from time to time?http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Arena/9765/mount.htm

This is sort of an idea of hiking in desert area, south of Isarel, near the Red sea.
The time : last weekend, warm , not hot yet, temps around
90, no rain of course. Persons involved :2 thru hikers (2003, 2001 Patience and Poo the bear) and one wannabee -me.

As for the “unrest”, you might feel some tension only when going on buses in main cities, enter a mall or a busy restaurant, which means out there, there’s no danger really.
I’m not familiar with California , sounds similiar.

I’m not a biker , there are many around so there must be trails…
The links give a pretty good picture about hiking and biking.
There are more sites on the net, I guess most of them in Hebrew.

What’s the elavation there? It looks like a few thousands feet. Can you walk near the sea? It looks like walking on the moon.
Lower California is an inland desert, Death Valley as it’s called. Not a place to go in the summer.

Oh yeah, elevation is a couple of thousands feet, yes but just a couple. No more then that. But there are a few palces on the trail that are more difficult, going on your hands and knees, ropes sometimes …
Near the sea there are roads and hotels, that strip of beach, between the border with Jordan to the one with Egypt is about 10 miles. You can walk along the coast in Egypt but I wouldn’t recommend it.
