Sleeping bag for Claustrophobe

Hi,
I am looking for a sleeping bag to replace my old and heavy synthetic rectangle for section hikes.
I originally got the rectangle because I tend to get a bit claustrophobic and also my feet get very hot in the bags and I liked the zipper that can be opened at the foot area.
I took a look at Western Mountaineering and found a couple of bags that would be great like the alpen hooded, if they weren’t so much money (very limited budget). I also found an expandable bag from marmot at 30 degrees ( is that enough for early spring? ) The only prob with the marmot might be the closed in foot box. I am handy with a sewing maching so I was thinking I could add a zipper.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Sierra Designs makes a Stretch bag that allows you to move around much better than the old timey mummy bags. Check 'em out!

20 degree down, semi rectangular, fully unzippable to use as a quilt.

The Wasatch looks good but would’nt a model with a hood be alot better?

I love my WM Caribou - lots of girth to twist and turn, light, hooded, nice color (not bright green, etc.), full zipper…
