Sleeping gear in Georgia

I’m planning a section hike in Georgia in mid September. I’d like to leave my 15 degree bag at home and just bring a fleece liner instead. Is this crazy? If I bring thermals and an insulating layer and cap, can I get by with this? Thanks for your thoughts/opinions.

You will be fine with the light stuff. Still very much late summer in GA

as long as you can stay dry…one thing you might consider carrying if you don’t mind a few extra ounces, are those little hand warmer packets…(yeah…i used to think that was goofy, too…until my mom got us a box we felt we needed to use up, and we actually found that on the rare occasion we ran into unseasonably cold or wet weather, they made us so much more comfortable!)…just tuck them wherever you feel a “draft”!..you never know in the mountains!..over 4th of july this year in tennessee, we had a couple of 50 degree (some said 40) nights which required my “summer” jardine-style quilt and fleece cap…so i think september COULD dip below freezing in the higher elevations…paw-ee and i did the bmt last november and had both FREEEEEEEZING (14 degrees) weather and
sweltering (near 80!)…it might pay to be prepared…
