Im planning on packing a 25* kelty 1# bag, Hennessey Hammock, and Therm a Rest Z-lite (full) for when im in the shelters. IS this a ratio of weight:comfort? a little worried about keeping warm in my early start of March 1st. Thanks

You’ll be fine. You might be chilly if you’re sleeping in the hammock on a cold night.

Do a search for Hennessey Hammock on this forum. There are many posts by dawg trying to determine this. I set this up in my back yard and slept outside for two weeks. There are pros and cons.

I decided the return the HH and not use it on my thru-hike.

Overall Opinion: Save it for weekends.

You are soooooooo wrong on save it for the weekends. I spent well over 100 nights in mine travling from Glasgow, Va to Baxter State Park, then back to the west Branch of the Pleasent River. The hammock is the best sleep possible on the trail. After you’ve spent a few weeks in shelters or camping around them, you will remember that hammock and wish you had it!

Anthony,

What Kelty bag? Sounds nice and light (1#) for the temp rating (25). Couldn’t find a model that matched those specs when I looked on their site. Did I miss it, or was it a typo on your part?

(I actually hope its a typo, cause I speny way too long reseaching my bag to have its warmth to weight ratio so soundly trashed so shortyly after i finally purchased it!)

Thanks.
