Sliding groundsheet

imported

I use 2ml plastic sheeting for my groundsheet underneath my tarp. When on a slight incline there are two problems: 1. The groundsheet slides on the ground, 2. My thermarest slides on the groundsheet. Has anyone got any solutions that wouldn’t add much weight as I am attempting to go light weight w/my gear.

Thanks.

You know those rubber stickers that keep you from falling down in the shower? Put them on your groundsheet and thermarest, or on both sides of the thermarest. The ones between the groundsheet and thermarest will keep the thermarest from sliding, and the ones on top of the thermarest will keep your sleeping bag from sliding off.

Or…

Make a footbox in your groundsheet, then put grommets in it next to your head and stake them down.

Yeah, or just find a flat place to sleep…

I second what Wookie says. Wash the tyvek once or twice with no soap in a washing machine. Its reasonably strong and water resistant, but is as soft as a paper towel.

Wookie and Razor,
Where did you get your Tyvek? I inquired at the local Hardware store and they only would sell it in bulk.

Try intothewind.com. It’s a website for kites and has tyvek for $2.50 a yd (60" wide). I’ve bought from them and was real pleased with their service.

Thanks, that’s cheaper than my usual source. Can’t get much cheaper, can it?

I know. Sleep is more important to me than carrying 30 more pounds. You know, I would rather carry 30 pounds with a good sleep than slackpack without any sleep.
So I’m getting Byer Moskito Hammock Campmor#42505-j@ $40 and 16oz they say. And then I’m using 20068-j silion impregnated 6x8 tarp,9.2 ounces they say, $ouch and some mason twine and thats it. So this is my way to play today anyway, ok?
