Anyone have a recommendation for a backpack for a very small framed female? I’m thinking of getting a youth pack but I need something big enough to carry a sleeping bag and small tent. Suggestions?

Teri, these guys have small packs. Note 10-16" torso. We got a few for our nephews a few years ago and they were great.

Last year my husband and I did a thru on the AT. I am about 5’6" and I have an Ariel 65 pack with the medium waistbelt. I love my pack! It fits great and is extremely comfortable. There were a lot of Ariel packs like mine on the trail. There is also a smaller Ariel pack that you might try on too. Hope this info helps.

I’ve gotta agree with the suggestion to use a Granite Gear pack. I’m about to thru-hike (beginning March 7) the AT using a Nimbus Meridian and I really love it. Hands down, great company with great gear. Hope this helps.

Another plug for GG…I’m a 5’, 100lb lady, and I used a Vapor Trail on my thru and still use it for all camping and travel. They came out with the Ki after I had purchased it. I love my Vapor Trail. It’s super comfy. The only things I would change if I could would be to make the shoulder straps a little narrower and the hip belt more angled. Which is just what the Ki does. So I would definately give both of them a try to see if one or the other would work for you. Alternately, if you’re going minimal, I’ve also tried their Virga (frameless) and it’s great too.
And no, I don’t work for Granite Gear, I’m just a fan!

I have to agree with ATBacall. Osprety has a few packs you could try that are fairly light weight, comfortable and can hold you basic equipment.
