Small, Lightweight Tripod

I’m searching for a small, lightweight (tabletop) tripod to take with me on my next hike. I ran across a SONY VCT-TK1 Tripod that looks cool. Folds flat and weighs a mere 3.5oz for 20 bucks. Problem is the maximum height is only 2 3/4". Too short. A while back I ran into a guy that had one that folded up small, weighed just ounces, and the max height was about 6 or 7 inches. He used it many times while backpacking and had great luck with it’s height and sturdiness for being so small & light weight - but I forget what brand it was. Can anyone help me out with what’s out there?

Campmor sells the Ultrapod and Ultrapod II. Neither is very expensive. Don’t know if that’s close to what you’re looking for or not.

An alternative to tripods is a monopod. Always a hiker favorite, it depends upon what your requirements are & what you need it for. A monopod can be a good alternative to a tripod, particularly for low-light and/or slow shutter speed situations with a light carry weight. But it won’t work for self-portraits.

SLIK has a good selection of them - one source for SLIK monopods is:

Yes - the Ultrapad is the one I was looking for. It has the velcro strap that allows the tripod to be attached to a tree, etc. @ 2 oz. wow.
