lest anyone doubt the south…i notice jeremy r. found the same story on cnn that i just did. must be another new hound like me. take it from a smokies native. THE BIGGEST SNOWS OF THE SEASON IN THE SOUTH ARE THE MARCH SPRING SNOWS IN THE SMOKIES. In 1993 it snowed 3 feet in two days, more at elevation. looks like four people were not prepared again this year. here’s the link…

this has good info on the nor-easter or 93. there was 30 inches of snow at my house at 2200 feet elevation, in two days.:frowning:

that was one heck of a storm. i was living in syracuse, ny at that time and we got 43 inches from that storm. what a mess.

I remember that 93 storm as well. We had 19 inches of snow in the street in front of my house in Birmingham AL(!). Blizzard conditions, in that I could not see the railing of my front porch six feet out from the livingroom windows. Grew up in MN, so I know what storms can be like, but this was a once in a lifetime event in the deep South.
