Aswah, you can actually see the Smoky Mountains for yourself. Visit this site during day light, it is a Smoky Cam: http://www2.nature.nps.gov/air/webcams/parks/grsmcam/grsmcam.htm

I always check this site to get the temps at different elevation rates.

Hey there, I Emailed you on the weather here. I thought I would tell you NOT to go by current temps for Yesterday, Today or tommorrow, as we have a big cold front coming thru at the moment. Lows last night in the mountains were around 39 degrees

By the 2nd week on Nov, I expect temps to average in the 55-70 range for the HIGHS and 40-50 for the LOWS. No freezing temps should be found then.

Look forward to hiking with you and Nov is a great month to hike in. Capt Chaos (my son ) will help us with the shuttle depending on what day it is we start.

It’s bad enough you’ve got a gorgeous wife and you hiked all summer. You don’t get to hike again. What do you think this is heaven?

Those temps Rebel mentions can change quickly though–after one lovely October 14th with clear sunny skies and temps in the 70s, we woke up to 70 mph winds and 7 inches of snow.

Yes, CeCe, the weather can change quickly here in the Smokies.

I was just letting Aswah know that the current Temps were colder than normal for right now. They are due to go back to normal beginning today ( Sunday ). Example the temp for today at Newfound Gap is 55-65 degrees, so you see it is back to normal for this time of year.

Aswah remembers in 2001 when we hiked thru the Smokies with 15 degree temps and up to 18 inches of snow and lots of Ice on March 23, 2001, so he knows what can happen.

Today I am taking Sgt Rock for his first hike in the Smokies and the weather is perfect. Clear Skies, temps at 55-65 degrees. Hmmm think a hike to Ice Water Springs would be a good start?

Laters all, I have to get my gear packed and off we go !!!

bluejay… do not be jealous. I am searching for the path of life in the woods… somehow the woods make more sense to me than life in babylon…

as far as cold weather and snow… no worries… it still beats life in the city.

p.s. mister deanne… i’ll call ya soon
