It is very rare for temps to fall below 50 after May 20th in the Smokies. (Lived in the area for 45 years) Just to be safe bring a 150 weight merino long sleeve and long pant with a light down for sitting around camp. Enjoy the trip!

I did the Smokys in June of 08. Had a 20 degree bag when I started at Springer but sent it home at Neels Gap and bough a 50 degree bag. Haven't used anything else since in May - Aug.
A fleece top and rain gear is all you need.
