Snake bites usually happen because people are fool enough to try to pick up the snake. Most bites come because of some drunken idiot who thinks it would be ‘fun’ to kiss a snake. If you don’t try to play with it, it won’t try to play with you.

Spiders - I get bitten by spiders dozens of times each year. If you hike in places where few people go, you run into a lot of cobwebs. Since I lead, I pick up the passengers. Never any long term harm. Black widows are big and obvious. Again - don’t play with it and she won’t hurt you. Most other bites are about on a par with mosquito bites. They’re bigger and last longer - but no harm. Brown recluse bites are quite rare. If you have a bite that doesn’t heal and the skin is dying, go to a doctor. They can cut it out quite easily.

While out backpacking this past weekend, I walked through tons of spider webs, threads, etc. They sure are busy!! Had to keep brushing off the debris and critters.
