SNOBO's? - Appalachian Trail

I was a SOBO this year but had to get off the trail at Max Patch (south of Hot Springs, NC) due to a bad knee. I’m planning to finish the last few hundred miles this spring. If there are any SOBO’s out there who had to drop this year but want a hiking partner to finish, let me know. No definite plans yet, for either starting date or direction. However, I’ll be at Trail Days 2004 to complete my AT hike.
Can I call it a thu-hike if I took a 4 month break?

Hey Miss Janet, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

ATC says it is if you finish it within the year.

Yes, you MUST finish every single inch within exactly 365.36547 days or a duck comes down blows a horn and the entire world is made aware you are a complete and utter failure. Remeber there are purists with stop watches everywhere, you cannot escape.

Those are the guys with the chalk on a stick that mark your boots at night. If you’ve parked in one place to long you have to go back to GO.

hell, goggles, you can call it a thru-hike if you sat on your ass and watched “hogan’s heroes” reruns all year. just make sure to stage some good katahdin photos to send to all the hostels you “stayed” at. go outside. build a small mound. make a cardboard katahdin sign. get a fan to blow on you as you snap shots with your poles over your head, or chugging from a champagne bottle. get multiple copies. attach a short note about what a blast you had. the hostels will hang your clever missives for all to see.
