Snow in Cascades

Driving out west from Florida, heading for Bellingham WA., leaving the car with ‘05 AT friends, then heading for the Kickoff. Hoping to cross Stevens Pass on Rte. 2, Sunday, 4/15. Is that road plowed ? Is it still snowing, snow-covered up there ? Does anyone offer ice-axe self arrest instruction in that area ?? Not a clue about big snow 300 miles south of Georgia State line. Still loadin’ the car. Not too late to trade ice-axe instruction for a load of coconuts ?? See you at the KO if we can make it thru the drifts. Snowonderin’ Muleskinner

Hwy 2 is plowed during the winter. We have been having a nice balmy session of weather the past couple days though, so the roads lately have been great. Hwy 2 and I-90 are kept open year round.
As for snow? Oh yeah. Washington had NO lack of snow this winter! Many areas are still 10 feet or more deep up here. Stevens Pass is above 5,000 ft.
If you are up in Bellingham, you should be able to find someone to give you a quick teaching on self arrest. Mt. Baker is just up the road, and the college is nearby!

Yeah, there’s a ski resort right there at Stevens Pass, a good place to grab a coffee for late NOBO’s.
