Anyone know how much snow is still on the AT by Manchester, VT? Would it be worth heading up there for a hike this week?

On April 1st I attempted tp hike over Greylock as I hiked in from Williamstown. I met twi hikers out who had also tried earlier but gave little info. About a mile south of Prospect Mtn. patches were abundant and the knee high. After the turnoff for Wilbur Lean too the trail was lost in snow & ice… After the 1st RD. crossing it took 20-30 min to go 100 yards, then another. Blazes have REALLY faded just in the past years weathering and by now there were waist high drifts… I had to bactrack to Wilbur for the night and hike back down. Even Snowshoes/Crampons would be of no use… Too many crevices, too high water (over ankle) and areas of hard ice with mogul like snow.

~ good hiking all :boy

I just hiked Sandwich Dome in Waterville Vally NH on Saturday (4/3). There was no snow until 2,000 ft and by 3,000 ft I had to put on snowshoes as the snow was mid thigh deep and the warm weather was causing lots of post holing. It was going very fast though.
