I will be up there next week. Iguess all the snow will be gone for a nice hike on the AT. Does anyone know? Thanks.

You may find patches of snow and or ice in shady areas but generally no snow is reported at Newfound Gap or Mt. LeConte. The low temperature at Mt. LeConte, 6593', this morning was 33 degrees. Who knows what next week will bring? I will try to make a later update if this subject is still active.

looks like for tuesday,it'll be a high of 40 and low of 28 and, yes, SNOW! (and that's the gatlinburg weather!.....it could be a lot more 'wintery' up on TOP of ol' smoky!)......we have had snow in april out on the AT in virginia a couple of times! (i like to have at least some of my winter gear still in my pack till the first of may......not sure i EVER got rid of my fleece hat and light jacket back in '03 when it rained so much!)......the problem we have encountered in the smokies more than snow has been ice...(but usually just for short stretches).....our 'yak trax' always helped us out in icy situations.....mud might still be a problem, too (which can be VERY slippery, especially after freezing/thawing conditions!).....sooooo...watch your step, and have FUN!
