Beautiful snow on all the mtns around Tucson today. By evening there was no snow to be seen on the South facing slopes of the Catalina’s, but the Rincons Northeast sides were still covered, and the Sta Rita’s still had snow on the north side. Beautiful day over all quite chilly for AZ. Glad to be back in Tucson. Not sure what the other faces looked like, being stuck in the North end of town.
According to someone I talked to today, Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley had some great skiing and was even good for bottomless riding in the trees. Translates to; a ton of snow on top of Mt Lemmon. But it’s AZ who knows how long it will last. Maybe Thursday I’ll hit the ski area.
So I must put off the GET hike a litte bit, but tons of training hikes to do in the coming weeks. Friday I’m off to the Grand Canyon to meet up with friends working the S. Rim, and hopefully do a Tonto Trail hike. There is currently two feet of snow on the S. Rim, but inner canyon should be just about awesome. Might even be able to line a job for the summer up there for after the GET.
Thought you guys might like a heads up on snow.
