Does anyone know if parking exists where the AT crosses Skyline Drive at Gravel Springs Gap? Also, what is the current AT mileage between Big Meadows and Gravel Springs Gap? I’m guessing my Wingfoot book and maps from '98 may no longer be accurate. If there isn’t parking at Gravel Springs Gap, is there a good spot nearby to meet my wife (who will be driving up from our home in Waynesboro with our very young children) when she picks me up? Thanks!

Yes, there’s a large parking lot where the AT crosses SD north of Gravel Springs Hut. I stealthed with my hammock about 1/4 mile south of the parking lot about a month ago. Stinging Nettle were in abundance. Hking poles work very well as weedwhackers also. It may be a little better on the north side of SD. I doubt that the mileage has changed in SNP since 98.
