SNP shuttle(s) - Appalachian Trail

Anyone know if there are people around Shenandoah National Park that will pick up people doing couple day, three day, etc. hikes within the park?

Rather than hike point to point along the AT in Shenandoah National Park, I’d recommend doing a loop hike. The best parts of SNP are down the side trails and off the ridge that the AT runs along. Hike the side trails for a couple of days, and then on the last day, hike back on the AT.

Agree with Peaks about using the AT as a connector and doing side trail loops. Go to www.patc.net, order the maps, and you’ll see how many such hikes are possible.

However, if you’re trying to complete the AT in sections my guess is you’d rather get in as many AT miles as possible. So if that would be the case, you could call me at 540-743-1355…if you’re needs fall between Big Meadows and Elkwallow I could likely help. If you need some help outside that window, try Bobby Jenkins at 540-743-3214 or 742-4714, or Mike Evans at 540-631-0777 or 539-0509.

I used Ray Johnson a couple of weeks ago when I was out there. Him and his wife were really nice and helpful. They’re on the shuttle list.

For shuttles within SNP and way beyond, go to www.snpshuttles.com. The website has a lot of information about hiking in SNP, plus a long page of links to other services.
