I’ll be doing the So CA section of the PCT. My sisters want to do some short sections with me (2-4 days at 15 miles/day with good road access and water). Where are some good sections?

The hike from Idylwild, up the Devil’s Slide trail to the PCT, and along the PCT, down Fuller Ridge and to I-10 is really scenic and is about the length you are looking for. Even better would be to start a bit further back at the highway 74 crossing and hike to I-10. This way you also get the Desert Divide, which is one of the most scenic sections on the PCT.

I agree with Suge, the ridges going up to Mt. San Jacinto near Idywild are amazing. I thought I was in Lord of the Rings a couple of times. The hiking and wildlife is very diverse also. Fuller ridge is a very long down hill coming from 9,000+ft. down to under 1000ft. Mission creek was amazing except for alot of burn area. I remember sitting with my feet in the creek for hours watching tons of birds and wildlife surround me. Mt. Baden Powell area has some nice ridgeline hiking in old pine forests. The terrain is steep but it makes the views down the canyons breathtaking. A local from wrightwood told me on a clear day (after a good rain) you can see the Pacific down the canyon just before Mt. Baden Powell. Snow might be an issue on those highlands depending on when you go and how fast the snow melts this year. Enjoy you hike!
