Most of the Yo-yo hikes I’ve read of have the hiker beginning and ending on Springer.
Has anybody done it from Katahdin? North-to-South-to-North?
And which way is easier?

Legend has it that Ward Leonard did a ‘double’ yo-yo (or a yo-yo and 1/2) by walking from Springer to Katahdin to Springer back to Katahdin in one year. I had an extensive conversation with him in '96 in Boiling Springs, but failed to ask him about this. I’m sure somebody else here on Trail Forums would know the details.
The ‘Barefoot’ sisters - Isis & Jackrabbit did a SoBo yo-yo from 2000 to 2001.
A NoBo yo-yo should be much easier due to the fact that you would have a much longer ‘weather’ window (assuming that you are trying to do the hike in one calendar year).

What I heard about Ward’s three thru hikes in one year was that he would hike a section three times back and forth. I met some one who saw him cross the kennebec three times and then move north. So this was not a south bound yo-yo.
