Sock options with Trailrunners

I’m going to try trailrunners my next hike. Does anyone have recommendations on socks, liners, etc.? I’m dubious about the “Ray Way” which is just a cheep pair of nylon dress socks.

I only read this one because I thought it said Stock Options. Yes, wear good socks.

I’ve been hiking in New Balance using the same sock set as I’ve always used with boots: wigwam gobi liners and short smartwools with a bit of foot powder. I did six miles of the AT on easy ridge walks in the Shenandoah this past weekend and my feet felt just fine afterward. I won’t cut the tongues out of my NB, but I’m becoming a convert to trail runners stead of boots. I take what I can use from Ray and leave the rest, smoldering, in a hot pile for later use as entertainment. I haven’t tried the dress socks and probably won’t, as I’m only just starting to understand the sneaker dynamic after too much time spent in stupidly heavy boots.
My feet, back and body are thanking me with every step…

I use Bridgedales, I think they are the best. Medium weight trekkers

i use mid weight thorlos…the green ones. they seem to have just enough bulk to cushion the blows and are just thick enough to keep my feet tosty in freezing temps, they wick perfectly for me.

I was amazed at how many people tried so many different options such as liner socks and such, and their feet were distroyed. I never had a blister for 800 miles and often hiked with wet feet. oh I used timberland trail runners.

I’ve been hiking in smartwool and alpaca, but I also just bought New Balance running socks that are very comfortable in my running shoes. I think I might try to hike in them next time. Ankle-length cuts down on weight and bulk, they’re thicker than Ray’s nylons, but thinner than heavy boot socks, and they wick like mad.
