I started Campo May 11th finished Sept. 10th. There aren't too many other hikers who want to go that fast. Last year only several hikers went that fast or faster. So if you want to finish late August you will have to hike well over 25 miles a day, take very few zero's, start "in-shape", have a light pack, and have good luck with snow being low. If you are hiking alone this will help you go fast also. It is totally possible for you to do this if you have the right attitude. Everyone has a different hiking style and different goals while on long distance hikes so for some hikers your goal might be impossible and for others it might seem too slow. Oh yea, when I say hike "fast" I am talkin about miles a day, not your m.p.h. speed. Even if you hike 2 miles per hour and you hike sunrise to after sunset it is totally possible to walk over 30 miles in a day.

I forgot to tell you that if you start hiking 20-25mi/day it if possible to keep that pace until northern CA where you'll hike 25-35+mi/day. In OR the terrain gets easier and consecutive 30+mi/days will be common. WA can go either way, I kept up a 30+mi/days almost all the way thru WA. But most hikers averages go down once they hit WA but if your pack is light it's possible to increase milage all the way to the end. I hope all this info relates and doesn't confuse you. Have a great hike!:happy
