Sothern Sierra Snow

FYI - a posting from the Death Valley Talk site describes a mid-April attempt to explore Telescope Peak - 11,000 + ft. between Panamint and Death Valleys. More snow this year than in any year in recent memory. Road was still impassible from the Charcoal Kilns.

Telescope is due east of the Southern Sierra Crest and normally gets hit by the same weather systems. Another negative indicator for an early Sierra snow melt.

Just wanted to pass along what I saw yesetday while boarding on Hood.

Very few patches of snow at 4,000ft. More snow at 5,000 -7,000ft. But already exposed grass and rock at the higher elevations. Hood Meadows is on a south facing slope.
