A mystery surrounding the whereabouts of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford was apparently solved late Monday when a Sanford spokesman said he was hiking along the Appalachian Trail.
“I apologize for taking so long to send this update, and was waiting to see if (we had) a more definitive idea of what part of the trail he was on before we did so,” Joel Sawyer said in an e-mail to reporters.

Looks like the Governor wasn’t on the AT after all. I’m guessing we will find out that he was in Argentina with a hiking partner. He told his wife that he was going hiking on the AT. When records and reporters found out that he was actually in South America, not South Carolina, he changed his story. Do we really have idiots running our country? HYOH.

That makes more sense. These politicos haven’t the disposition to get anything out of an experience like the AT, even though it might do them good. The days of the odd gub’mint figurehead communing with nature are largely over. Natural selection has bred it out of them.
