South San Juans

Hey folks,
I just spent the last three weeks attending a yoga teacher training at the Ghost Ranch Conference Center. I was unaware that it was a CDT resupply spot. Stunning place.
I have a couple of more questions regarding the CDT in the San Juans. First of all, should I bring an ice axe if I am in the mountains before October 1st? Where around Chama can I leave my car? How difficult would the hitch from Pagosa Springs to Chama be? If I wanted to continue past Pagosa Springs, is there anywhere to bail between there and Lake City? Thanks for all the advice.

You do not need a ice axe. 3" of snow in San Juans two days ago - pretty much gone now. Be prepared…You can bail at Hunchback Pass to Creede, Stony Pass to Silverton.
